Wedding Content Creator - A Total Waste Of Your Budget

Grab a cup of coffee, a beer or some popcorn while reading this one!

This is a HUGELY controversial topic in the wedding photography and videography space and i am going to try and educate you why this trend needs to go! Hiring a Wedding Content Creator will never live up to your expectations and here are the reasons why.

Photographers and Videographers are already your content creators

Everything they can do, we can do better: I know this statement sounds like it was written by a spoilt child but bare with me. This page will actually give you the information you need. Couples mainly hire content creators for reels and a faster turnaround time, i know for a fact photographers and videographers would be willing to do this for you if you mentioned that it was important to you. Candid shots, we already take these. We as a business will normally deliver all photos within 7-14 days and videos within 2-4 weeks depending on the time of the year. It would be all sifted through and sorted for you and in a much higher quality. There is always an option to ask for reels to be created from the professional footage and you would normally get preview photos from the photographer within 24-48 hours. This is typical practice for most photographers so we can beat your quests low quality images hitting the internet.

Communication is key: If you have want something specific from your photographer or videographer they just need to be told from the start. If you are planning to hire a content creator currently. What is it that they are delivering that a photographer or videographer can’t. We can bring additional people if needed and we already stand back and capture BTS (Behind the scenes) photos and videos. While a lot of it isn’t always delivered. You can ask for it to be and the chances are it won’t cost you another $700 dollars which is the going rate for a Content creator. We can everything you need and you are already paying for us.

Wedding photographer and Videographer Contacts: I wish i was just speaking for ourselves at lovetales but i had heard this from a few of the other top level photographers and videographers. We simply will not work with content creators and there have been clauses in our contracts about other people taking photos and videos during some parts of your weddings since before they were on the scene. We have had this clause because of distractions to the couple and their guests. This was clause that typically stopped guests who think they are photographer from being in the back of all of your photos or worse standing in front of us. We bring skills like setting up details to be a pretty photo or we take the time to set up the family or pose you for a photo and we don’t want people distracting people by waving another camera about. In a majority of contacts you will find this clause that states the photographer or videographer is to be the only person in that field. As wedding photographers and wedding videographers we are already fighting for the best angles and trying to balance this with being a fly on the wall so your day isn’t just about the photos or the videos. 3 vendors with the same goal will never produce the best results.

Content Creators Provide A Low Quality Product and Service

Professionalism: Currently the caliber of content creators in Perth typically ranges from poor to extremely poor. Content creators just aren’t used to working in others on the wedding day and hinder your professional photographers and videographers ability to remain at a distance. Content creators due to their technology need to be a lot closer to you as a couple to capture anything of quality. If a content creators is using a phone they can’t just zoom in otherwise it makes their low quality phone cameras look worse and they will struggle to capture any quality audio from their inbuild microphones. Hiring a content creator is guaranteeing that your photographer or videographer will step forward to take control and you will lose all your candidness out of your day.

Not a wedding professional: Even in the photographer space we talk about professional photographers and Professional Wedding Photographers having a different understanding of weddings. For such a huge event you really do want a Wedding Professional and not just a professional photographer. Yes they can take nice photos but do they have the extra equipment and can they adapt at the pace needed. Unfortunately content creators are the same. In any other space a content creator for a business is a professional photographer or videographer. In no other industry would a phone be an acceptable piece of equipment.

Overemphasis on Trends: Unless you are a social media superstar the limited low quality reels you gain are going to be useless within months of your wedding day. Have you ever looked back on photos and videos from years ago on your phone and thought to yourself, why did i take this. Unfortunately you won’t look back at the reels in years to come and if you do they will feel outdated.

Final Deliverables: Currently the biggest benefit of having a content creators is also their biggest downfall. Content creators are currently offering super fast turn around and ALL THE RAW footage. Imagine every few minutes of the day there is a 5-10 second film of EVERYTHING random in one convenient folder for you. All you will need to do is sift through all the low quality footage that amounts to 200+ files to find the 3-4 seconds of the niece doing a cute spin in her dress. The chances are that the videographer captured the same footage on a higher quality camera that was on a device that keeps the camera stable and will cut that moment out and put it in the highlight film you have paid for. Photographers and videographers have a longer turnaround time because we do the sorting for you.

Content creators just simply get in the way of the professionals you have invested really good money to have at your wedding. Talk to your professionals and tell them what you need and want.
